Kabam Games
Kabam Games, a Canadian developer and publisher of massively multiplayer social games, had a skunkworks division focused on stealth incubative prototypes. One of these projects was a mobile app that combined TikTok-style videos with instructional content, incorporating quizzes and educational tutorials. The goal was to enable creators to teach viewers on various topics while fostering social connectivity.
I was brought on as a consultant to build a proof of concept, moving beyond the initial ideation session to bring this vision to life.

UI/UX
To take content beyond a typical streaming platform like TikTok, our goal was to give creators a way to boost user interaction by integrating quizzes between segment markers. We believed that, if done subtly, this approach could capture valuable data points that would benefit both the platform and the creators.
Adding a Lesson
Inspired by TikTok, this application aimed to gamify video content by integrating educational features designed to engage users and boost screen time. The concept also included the potential for upselling through ads and micro-transactions. In the future, a subscription model could have been introduced to unlock advanced features and elevate content through personalized recommendations.
In the discovery phase of building new applications, creating essential artifacts is crucial for staying on schedule, especially with a small team. Quick low-fidelity wireframe flows, highlighting click states and linear paths, proved invaluable in accelerating progress toward a working prototype.
