📌 Project: Social Learning Video Platform Prototype
👤 Role: Sr. Lead Product Designer · UX Consultant
🏢 Company: Kabam Games (Canadian game developer & publisher with an incubative R&D division)
📆 Timeline: 2020
⚡ Focus: Social Apps · EdTech · Mobile UX
🛠 Services: UI · UX · Prototype Development
🎯 Impact: Built a proof of concept for a mobile app blending TikTok-style video sharing with instructional content, quizzes, and social connectivity. Designed user flows for creators to upload tutorials and for learners to engage through interactive features. Elevated the concept from early ideation into a tangible prototype that demonstrated potential for Kabam’s stealth skunkworks division. Helped position the app as an innovative fusion of social engagement and educational technology.

To take content beyond a typical streaming platform like TikTok, our goal was to give creators a way to boost user interaction by integrating quizzes between segment markers. We believed that, if done subtly, this approach could capture valuable data points that would benefit both the platform and the creators.

Adding a Lesson
Inspired by TikTok, this application aimed to gamify video content by integrating educational features designed to engage users and boost screen time. The concept also included the potential for upselling through ads and micro-transactions. In the future, a subscription model could have been introduced to unlock advanced features and elevate content through personalized recommendations.

In the discovery phase of building new applications, creating essential artifacts is crucial for staying on schedule, especially with a small team. Quick low-fidelity wireframe flows, highlighting click states and linear paths, proved invaluable in accelerating progress toward a working prototype.
